In order to participate in local or state elections and meetings, you must be registered to vote. You may register to vote at the Town Clerk’s Office or at the polls on an election (not meeting) day. You must be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and domiciled in the Town. You must present proof of age, I.D., domicile and citizenship.

If you are unable to produce any of these items, you may fill out an affidavit. You may register to vote immediately after establishing a domicile in the Town.

The Town of Merrimack operates under a town charter form of government and follows NH RSA 40:13, also known as SB2 for budgetary and monetary items. SB2 is an “Official Ballot” form of government that encompasses a two-part session. The first session held in March is a traditional town meeting with discussion of warrant articles only. Articles can be amended at this session; however, voting on these articles does not take place until the second session. The second session, held in April, is all day ballot voting on the articles as well as election of town officers.

Effective 1/12/12, there are two polling locations within the Town.  The Town does not have "wards" but does have "precincts".  In Merrimack, your "precinct" number is similar to a "ward" number.

  1. The polls for Precinct 1 are located in the All-Purpose Room of the Mastricola Upper Elementary School, located on Baboosic Lake Road.
  2. The polls for Precinct 2 are located at St. John Neumann Church, located on Rte. 101-A (behind McDonalds).
  3. The polls for Precinct 3 are located at St. James Church, located on 646 D.W. Highway (across from Silo's Restaurant).    The Town Council voted on 1/12/12 to close this polling location due to safety concerns and legal requirements with the polling location that are unable to be met.  Effective with the next election on April 10, 2012, voters previously assigned to this location will now vote in Precinct 1.  The voter registration roles and street listing informaton is currently being updated and this change is not yet reflected in the lists found at the bottom of this page.

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all state and local elections.

Town Meeting (first session of SB2) is held in the All-Purpose Room of the Mastricola Upper Elementary School, located on Baboosic Lake Road. The time of the meeting is posted with the warrant.

Your polling location is based upon your domicile address.

To determine your polling location, you may execute a search by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page and seaching for your street name from within the list.  As noted above, effective 4/10/12 voters in precinct 3 will now vote in precinct 1.  Changes are currently being made to this information.
