Directed Patrol

Directed patrol is selective enforcement given to areas within the community that have experienced an increase of a particular crime or dangerous situation. For example, if there is a road in town that has just been repaved and the speed of the motorist increased, we would set up a "Directed Patrol" to monitor the traffic. This would encompass having marked patrol units running radar in the area or using the radar display boards to monitor traffic behavior. Or, if a particular area of town had experienced an increase of vandalism or theft, we would set up a "Directed Patrol" in these areas. This would be done by having both marked and unmarked units working the area. This establishes a higher exposure of police presence and would enable us to determine the cause of the situation as well as take necessary steps to deter any further problems.
