A Little Trash Talk

Last year the town of Merrimack spent approximately $530,000 disposing of 8,200 tons of trash and demolition materials.  The budget of the Solid Waste Division is directly affected by the residents that use the facility.  Residents can help reduce the annual budget and reduce the impact on the tax base.  For every ton of recyclables taken out of the waste stream, we will save approximately $60 per ton on our disposal costs, thus lowering our operating costs and reducing your taxes. For example, if we recycled 2,000 additional tons of trash, we would drop our disposal costs by $120,000. What do you say Merrimack....?
