Special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children. WIC provides supplemental nutritious food and education to pregnant and breast feeding women. It also provides food to infants and children up to 5 years of age.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program 1-800-WIC-4321
CSFP provides supplemental nutritious food for children up to age 6 and elderly persons aged 60 and over, and pregnant and post-partum women. CSFP provides participants with a monthly allotment of USDA commodity foods, including fruit juices, instant potatoes, powdered and evaporated milk, dry cereals, powdered eggs, cheese and canned fruits, meats and vegetables. Heat & Electric Fuel Assistance 889-3440
The Fuel Assistance program helps approximately 19,000 low-income households pay for fuel bills. The program provides payments directly to the household’s fuel supplier. Participants must meet gross income criteria.
To apply, call the number listed above. You will be asked to gather your expenses and bring proof of your income.
Weatherization Assistance Programs 647-4470 Funds energy improvements in the homes of approximately 600 low-income families.
Senior Elderly Assistance Program 889-3440 For elders who are not income eligible for Fuel Assistance but have a compelling need for a one-time grant.
Neighbor Helping Neighbor 889-3440 Helps households facing disconnect or heating emergencies that are not income eligible and have not previously received fuel assistance.

Health Care and Prescriptions Assistance:
NH Healthy Kids 1-877-4NHCHIP or 1-877-464-2447 Non Profit Agency which administrates the State Medical and Dental Insurance Programs for children pre-birth to age 19 years. There are different level of plans available depending on your income to make sure all children without access to Health Insurance is able to get covered.
NH Medicaid Program is available for very low income populations. Applications for Pregnant Women and Children can apply directly through NH Healthy Kids 1-877-464-2447. All other must apply at Regional Offices around the State. Our Regional Health and Human Service Office is located at 19 Chestnut St. in Nashua.
Lamprey Health Center 883-1626 22 Prospect St. Nashua, NH A non profit agency provides Health Care for those not covered by Health Care Insurance. Can provide health care services on sliding scale basis or free depending on income. Can also provide referrals to specialists if needed.
NH Health Access 225-0900 Health Care Services are given through the NH Health Access Network are donated by health care providers and many area hospitals. Applications are based on income and lack of health insurance available. They update applications on a yearly basis.
Prescription Assistance Programs 225-0900 provides locations which can assist with applications for free or low pay prescriptions throught National Drug Company Assistance Programs. These are usually available through Hospitals and your own doctor's offices.

Food Stamps 1-800-852-0632 State Food Assistance Program for low or no income individuals and households. Although most people refer to them as "Food Stamps" they now use a debit card instead of paper "stamps". Assistance can be applied for directly by going to a Regional State Office. Our Regional Office is located at Department of Health and Human Services at 3 Pine St. Ext.Suite Q, Nashua, NH. Usualy applications are scheduled 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Office but Emergency or Expedited Food Assistance can be applied for from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Identification and documentation will be required.
