Project Summary: The Town of Merrimack will be upgrading 3 pumps stations and the wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). The total cost of the project is $22.62 million which is being funding by a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan through the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
The proposed project includes:
- Construction of New Influent Screenings Facility
- Comprehensive Upgrade of Main Pump Station
- Replacement of One Primary Clarifier Mechanism
- Replacement of Three Secondary Clarifier Mechanisms and Addition of Algae Brush System
- Modifications to Sludge Storage Tanks
- Modifications to Headworks Building
- New Emergency Generator and Electrical Upgrades
- Laboratory, Restroom/Locker Room, Conference Room and Office Spaces Renovation
- Sludge Handling and Tank Drainage Piping/Valve Manifold, One Primary Sludge Pump (5) and One Tank Drain Pump Replacement
- Roof Replacement and Miscellaneous Structural Repairs
- Modifications to Chlorination Building
- Electrical Upgrades
- Secondary Sludge Pumps and Piping/Valve Manifold Replacement
- Upgrade of Compost Facility Ventilation System
- Replacement of Amendment Storage Facility
- Comprehensive Upgrade of Thornton’s Ferry Pump Station
- Comprehensive Upgrade of Souhegan Pump Station
- Other Miscellaneous Upgrades Throughout the WWTF
Environmental permits that will be needed:
- Wastewater Engineering Bureau: Construction General Permit (CGP) and Remediation General Permit (RGP) if dewatering is required.
- Air Resources Division – Air permit for the installation and operations of new emergency generators.
- Shoreland Permit by Notification.
A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is proposed.
