Detective Lieutenant William "Chuck" Miller

Retired December 31, 1997

Lt. William “Chuck” Miller came to the Merrimack Police Department in 1976 from the Milford, NH Police Department where he served for four years. While in Milford, Chuck attended the 24th session of the NH Police Academy, graduating as the class Salutatorian. Chuck became Milford's first Police Detective.

Upon coming to ther Merrimack Police Department, Chuck served a year in uniformed patrol and then was assigned to the Detective Division as a Juvenile Officer. While assigned to the Juvenile unit Chuck attended the NH Juvenile Justice Academy finishing first in his class.

In 1981 Chuck became the Commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau in charge of all criminal investigations by the Merrimack Police Department. In 1986 Chuck attended the 144th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia, where he finished at the top of his class.

In 1995 Chuck was transferred to the Commander of the Legal Bureau prosecuting cases in the Merrimack District Court.

Chuck retired from the Merrimack Police Department in December of 1997 but only moved across the street where he became the Town’s Executive Secretary overseeing the town’s personnel function. Chuck is currently the Technology Coordinator for the Town.

Chuck holds an Associate of Arts degree in History from Daniel Webster College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from St Anselm College as well as post graduate credits from the University of NH and the University of Virginia.
