Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System - REQUIRED

The Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System is an integral component of the life safety equipment of a building or structure. The primary function of these systems is to provide reliable public safety communications at the required signal strength within the specified areas of the buildings. These requirements pertain to all new building construction, existing buildings undergoing substantial renovation, a change of occupancy, or the installation of a new fire alarm system. All of these are required to provide radio coverage for public safety.

Exceptions:

  1. One and 2 family dwellings 
  2. Buildings that have sufficient levels of in building radio coverage per NFPA 1, 1221, and 1225, and these requirements
