Tim Thompson, AICP
Community Development Director

Tim has been a professional planner in New Hampshire since 1997. He is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, receiving dual degrees; a Bachelor of Urban Planning & Development and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design. Tim began his professional career as a City Planner for the City of Rochester, then spent 11+ years as the Town Planner for the Town of Londonderry prior to coming to Merrimack in August 2011.

Tim is active in the NH planning community, and is a member of the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association, NH Planners Association and NH Economic Development Association (Tim spent over 7 years on the executive committees of both NNECAPA and NHPA). In June of 2011, Tim was honored by NHPA as the co-recipient of the 2011 Professional Planner of the Year award.  He was also honored by the Merrimack Rotary Club as an "Excellence in the Workplace" Honoree in both 2015 and 2017.

Tim is a NH native, residing in his hometown of Concord, where he lives with his wife and 2 sons.


Robert Price
Planning & Zoning Administrator

Robert has been a professional planner in New Hampshire since 2005.  That year, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and began his planning career interning with both the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission (2005), and the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission (2005-2006).  Prior to coming to the Town of Merrimack in October 2015, Robert spent 9+ years with the Town of Raymond growing from Planning Technician to Assistant Planner/Code Official.

Robert is a member of both the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association (NNECAPA) and the New Hampshire Planners Association (NHPA).  He was raised in Merrimack and currently resides with his wife and two daughters in Bedford, NH.

Robert was promoted to the Planning & Zoning Administrator position (from Assistant Planner) on August 7, 2017 with the departure of Jillian Harris.


Kellie Shamel
Assistant Planner

Kellie will begin employment with the Department on November 6, 2017.  Bio will be updated soon.


Diane Simmons
Community Development Secretary

Hired in 2010, Diane’s understanding of Merrimack business owner needs comes from her background in accounting and previous employment for NH DOT and at a local newspaper in marketing & advertising. Diane attended college in Massachusetts and studied Business Management before settling with her family in New Hampshire in 1990. Diane brings her knowledge of the community and State of NH processes to Merrimack as Secretary for Planning and Zoning for the Community Development Department.


Sharon Haynes
Part-Time Community Development Secretary

Sharon began work with Community Development on May 30, 2017.  Prior to coming to the Department, Sharon worked in various administrative assistant and financial services positions in southern NH.  Sharon resides in Merrimack with her husband and son.
