Adopt A Road/Adopt A Spot Program

The Adopt-A-Road program began in 1999 and allows residents, local groups, and businesses to“adopt” a portion of road in the Town and provide litter pickup services on their “orphan streets”. Sponsor plates recognizing the volunteers are posted at each of the adopted roads. The program requires that the adopted area be cleaned up a minimum of twice per year (spring and fall) but many sponsors perform ongoing pickup during daily or weekend exercise walks.

The Adopt-A-Spot program, revived in 2010, allows a sponsor group to "adopt" a small area in the Town for green-up and beautification. In addition to the litter pick-up function of the Adopt-A-Road program, the scope can include small-scale plantings and general maintenance of the area.

For additional information or to become a “parent” contact the Merrimack Public Works Highway Division at (603) 423-8551.
